Risu Beard Oil

Risu beard oils; what’s in them & why?

This is where it all started. A nourishing, natural beard oil that fulfills the needs of even the most demanding beards and their owners. We like to keep it simple, yet effective. We use only the best quality, natural ingredients in our products.

Our beard oils are made from a mixture of various natural and essential oils with calculated splashes of botanical extracts.

The chosen mixture of oils gives our products their caring, softening and protecting properties. All the oils also have other great and unique properties that work to complement each other, making the chosen mixture a true nourishment bomb for your skin and beard.

Different botanical extracts help target the diverse and specific needs and problems challenging our client’s skin and beards.

Now let’s go through a few of the key ingredients in closer detail.

Argan oil

The base oil for all our beard oils is Argania spinosia kernel oil, more commonly known as Argan oil. Expressed from the kernels of the Argan tree, this luxurious oil is used in cosmetics due to its highly conditioning, softening and protective functions. Rich in fatty acids that are essential to the normal function of the skin, argan oil gives the perfect base for a nourishing and shielding beard-oil.

Apricot kernel oil

Apricot kernel oil is derived from the kernels of the Prunus armeniaca plant. Especially high in Omega-9 fatty acids, this oil has found its way into our products due to its conditioning and occlusive properties. Now what the hell does an “occlusive ingredient” mean? Skins natural shielding properties can become compromised due to various reasons such as harsh climate conditions, mechanical stress or using the wrong kind of wash products.

Occlusive ingredients mimic the skins natural protective “ingredients”. By creating a thin and breathable layer on top of the skin and beard hair, occlusive ingredients make sure the good things, (such as moisture) stay in, and bad things (such as microbes and pollution) stay out.

Protected, conditioned and moisturized beard (and skin) is more resilient against mechanical stress and infections, not to mention it looks and feels way better and is more manageable than a scraggly, dry and untamed beard. What’s not to like eh?

Rosemary leaf extract

Rosemary leaf extract is a skin conditioning ingredient that is well known for its antimicrobial functions. This means it aims to protect the skin and beard from inflammation, such as infection of the hair follicle. Also, rosemary gives a nice freshness to the scent mixture.

Sea Buckthorn oil

Last, but definitely not the least, Sea Buckthorn oil is a precious and highly functional ingredient in all our beard oils. Obtained from the seeds of the Sea Buckthorn plant, this ingredient is found in Finland’s nature.

Especially high in vitamin C, Sea buckthorn oil is a real miracle worker for the skin and beard. Used for its protective, soothing and antiaging properties, this ingredient helps the skin and beard battle against harmful external factors and irritation.
