Real men know how important it is to take good care of their looks, especially face and skin. During summer time, the heat, dry air, pool and sea water and damaging sun rays can cause a real havoc with our skin. Therefore, it’s absolutely necessary to establish a skincare routine. Most of the time, it won’t add more than two minutes to your usual hygiene schedule, but it will make a significant difference.
Wash your face regularly
It’s essential to wash your face in morning and evening if you want to get rid of dirt and dead skin cells that might clog your pores. Since you need an everyday facewash, it would be best to find something that will be gentle yet effective on your skin. Choosing a pure natural facewash is probably most efficient since it won’t strip you of your natural face oils but it will still do some thorough cleaning. Natural products are better for thorough skincare because you won’t have to worry about toxic ingredients. Still, make sure that the one you want to use doesn’t contain some fruit or nut extracts you’re allergic to.
Hydration is very important during summer months. Therefore, make sure to drink plenty of water so your skin can get the necessary moisture from the inside. Of course, proper care is necessary on the surface as well. Get yourself a quick-absorbing moisturizer that would keep your skin plump and youthful. Spending time outside during warmer months requires effective sun protection as well. If you’re not too keen on putting two products on your face make sure that your moisturizer has SPF in it. Otherwise, you might suffer from sunburns and skin irritations.
If you shave regularly, you definitely have to include some additional steps in your routine. Apart from getting a good quality razor that is both gentle and effective in equal measure, don’t forget to apply a replenishing aftershave lotion after you’re done with shaving. The lotion will cool the skin, smooth it out and regenerate it after harsh razor use. Even if you don’t cut yourself, the damage that razor can cause is invisible to the naked eye, which means that you shouldn’t overlook this step. What’s more, get yourself an alcohol-free aftershave lotion in order to calm your irritated skin perfectly.
Respect your beard
If you love the beard trend and proudly rock the whiskers, you probably want it to look good. Simply letting the beard grow out and neglecting its care won’t look flattering after a while, especially in hot summer weather. In order to prevent dryness and split ends, make sure to incorporate the use of beard oils as well as special beard shampoos that will make it look neat and healthy. Beard oils will protect the beard from the sun and make it sleek and attractive.
After a day in the sun and washing your face before bed, it would be very beneficial for the skin to incorporate some night creams that have richer formula and rejuvenating age-appropriate properties. This will effectively restore the skin’s texture while you sleep and together with the rest of your skincare routine, prevent premature aging. If you’re worried about being too tired to apply the cream, keep it on your nightstand so that you can quickly apply it as you go to bed and use the residue to moisturize your hands.
If you treat your skin well, it will look more radiant, elastic and youthful for longer. Even if you don’t have to worry about wrinkles and skin sagging right now, proper skincare routine and sun protection will definitely slow down the inevitable aging process.
